Chem-Color-Analysis
Colorimetry software used in Skidmore College’s Analytical Chemistry course.
“How much chemistry can you read from a color?”
The question
Color can make a chemical change visible. Turning that observation into a useful analytical measurement means collecting consistent data and modeling the relationship between color and the quantity of interest.
The system
I built colorimetry software in collaboration with Skidmore College. The work includes collecting more than 3,000 chip values and using partial least squares models. The same underlying interests connect scientific instrumentation, data collection, and regression.
Where it is used
The software is used in Skidmore’s CH 232 Analytical Chemistry course and in my high school Chemistry Club. This is a classroom analytical tool; no independent accuracy benchmark is claimed here.
The next question
What makes a measurement trustworthy outside the conditions in which its model was trained? This is the bridge from seeing a pattern to knowing when to rely on it.
