The idea
The Haptic Vision Array explores the relationship between visual perception and tactile feedback. It belongs to the same family of questions as ALICE: how can software translate information about the physical world into another useful representation?
A design question
A camera can capture far more information than a tactile interface can communicate at once. Choosing what to preserve is part of the interface problem. The diagram outlines that conceptual path; it is not a claim of a validated accessibility device.
The next question
What is the smallest useful description of a scene? That question connects haptics, spatial reconstruction, and machine perception.
